CPT codes:Stands for Current Procedural Terminology. A CPT code describes what type of care or service has been provided by a licensed medical provider. Each procedure is given its own unique 5 digit code that identifies to health insurance companies what type of care was provided.
HCPCS codes: Stands for Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System and is a collection of standardized codes that represent medical procedures, supplies, products and services. The codes are used to facilitate the processing of health insurance claims by Medicare and other insurers.
